Actress Sonam Kapoor insists that she has never tried to cash-in on the success of her father Anil Kapoor but rather wants to focus on creating her own identity in the film industry. Sonam made her debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ in 2007 opposite Ranbir Kapoor. In 2010, her father and sister Rhea produced a film ‘Aisha’ starring her. The 28-year-old actress maintains that she is close to her father but does not want to use his fame as a stepping stone. “He has worked so hard all his life to be Anil Kapoor. I don’t want to use that for myself because that is all his. I don’t want to use that as a stepping stone for myself. He deserves more than that. Suppose I don’t do well, I don’t want my life to reflect on his life,” Sonam told PTI. “He has his own journey and I don’t want to take that away from him. My dad gets very upset as I don’t take too many pictures with him or do films or take money from him. He is like ‘why am I earning, it is all for you people’. He is proud of me that I am doing well on my own,” she said. Sonam is very fond of her father, who like any regular parent keeps embarrassing her by talking about his daughter’s achievements all the time. “It is embarrassing that he talks about me all the time. He clicks pictures and shows to everyone that it’s my daughter. It is so embarrassing. I love my dad,” Sonam said.
