2 ANF officials injured in drug smuggling encounter

At least two Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) officials were injured on Saturday in an encounter with drug smugglers near Mashkhel area of District Dalbandin, Balochistan.

According to the reports, the Anti Narcotics Force received information that some international drug traffickers were intending to smuggle drugs from Afghanistan to Balochistan.

On this tip off, an operational team was dispatched to catch the traffickers.

Drug smugglers opened indiscriminate fire on the team as soon as they reached the spot.

The offenders managed to flee, taking advantage of the darkness and the mountainous terrain.

Two ANF officials suffered bullet injuries. They were given first aid on the spot and initial treatment at Dalbandin. Later, both were shifted to Quetta for detailed treatment.

In another operation at Tehsil Panjpai, Quetta, ANF conducted an anti-drugs operation in Chotak and recovered 660 kilogrammes of charras.

Cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
