In the backdrop of possible flood-like situation in Nullah Leh in the monsoon, Rawalpindi DCO Rashid Mehmood Langerial has put WASA, Rescue 1122, Municipal Services Department, Civil Defence and Revenue Department on high alert.
The DCO directed all the departments to devise an effective strategy to deal with the expected flood in the nullah. He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting with the officers of all the concerned departments to review arrangements for the monsoon season. The DCO directed the officers of the all the departments to prepare a database of the houses and the residents who could be affected by the expected flood like condition in the Nullah Leh. Moreover, flood response cells have also been established and all the departments would coordinate in providing relief to the affected people.
Moreover, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has formed its response teams to provide safety to the lives and properties of citizens during prospective floods in the monsoon. According to WASA MD Mohammad Akram Soben machinery of WASA was completely operational to deal with any untoward situation in the monsoon. WASA have five dewatering sets, four sewerage cleaning machines, five jetting machines, six sucker machines and 24 water bowsers in fully functional position to prevent loses from prospective floods, he added.
