Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz, during his surprise visit to Machinery Pool Organization (MPO) here on Thursday, said that work on repair maintenance of water tankers has been completed on emergency basis. Round about 30 water tankers are available for supply of water to the residents of the federal capital and hopefully this would help reduce the water supply complaints from the residents.
The CDA chairman directed Director General (Electrical and Mechanical) Shahid Sohail to complete repair maintenance work on the remaining water tankers in MPO Workshop. He also directed him to further improve the provision of petrol and diesel system to vehicles of the authority, adding that irregularities in the system would not be tolerated. He further directed to take effective measures in purchase of diesel and petrol on daily basis in a transparent manner with accurate record. On this occasion, Sohail apprised the CDA chairman about the functions and responsibilities of MPO workshop in detail. He said that due to outage of power supply of water from tube-wells badly suffer, adding that repair and maintenance on all the out of order water tankers has been completed on emergency basis in day-night shifts.
Currently MPO has handed over 24 water tankers to Water Supply Directorate after repair maintenance/change of tyres. He said that six more water tankers would also be handed over to Water Supply Directorate within two days. Later on, Shahbaz, on the complaints lodged by the residents, visited Warsik Road in Sector I-9 and directed the concerned formations of the authority for immediate repair of broken footpath in area.
