PM’s House expenditures to be lowered by 40%

The government on Wednesday announced that the expenditures of the Prime Minister’s House would be reduced by up to 40 percent.

While tabling the budget in the National Assembly here, Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar told the House that the budget estimate for the Prime Minister’s House for the year 2013-14 was Rs 396 million as compared to Rs 725 million in the 2012-13 budget.

Dar said 44 percent of the Prime Minister’s House’s budget had been cut. However, it excluded salaries and allowances.

He was of the view that other than obligatory expenditures of debt servicing, defence, pay and allowances of civil servants and grants, there would be a 30 percent cut on all other expenditures in accordance with the announcement of the prime minister that would save Rs 40 billion.
