Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has prohibited parliamentarians, federal ministers and other officials from going on unnecessary foreign tours.
According to sources, Nawaz on Thursday directed the departments concerned to ensure that there was a 30 percent decrease in foreign tours.
They said directives had also been given to seek permission from the authority prior to departing for the tour.
“Federal ministers will require permission from the prime minister, MNAs from the speaker of the House and senators from the Senate chairman,” he was quoted as saying.
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat has prepared a summary in this regard which also includes a recommendation to decrease the cost of foreign tours by 40 percent.
