Drowned boy’s body recovered from Canal

A Rescue 1122 team on Wednesday recovered the body of a six-year-old boy Farhan, a resident of Faisalabad, who drowned in the city’s Canal on Tuesday. The team recovered the body from the canal near Lal Pul.
Farhan was visiting his relatives in Lahore when a day out with friends at the Canal turned out to be the last day of his life. He slipped in the Canal and drowned.
Despite Rescue 1122’s attempts, his body could not be found on the same day. On Wednesday, Farhan’s body was recovered after six hours of searching by Rescue 1122.
Farhan’s mother was devastated at her son’s death. She had to be taken to a hospital for medical aid after she fainted owing to excessive mourning at her son’s body.
The DCO has notice of the recent incidents of boys drowning in the Canal and has directed the officials concerned to ask the parents to bar their children from bathing in the Canal.
COUPLE COMMITS SUICIDE: A married couple committed suicide in Hangerwal on Wednesday.
According to reports, Kashif had married Mahwish a few days ago. When he returned home on Wednesday, he saw his wife hanging from the fan, after which he hung himself from the same fan.
The police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and shifted to them to the morgue for post mortem.
According to the police, reasons for the suicide could not be ascertained as yet.
