Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz directed for abolishing the CDA Directorate Project Management Office (PMO) in a meeting at CDA Headquarters on Wednesday.

All PMO projects and its officials would be adjusted in other CDA departments.

All CDA Board members and concerned officers were also present.

To improve the Human Resource Policy, Tahir Shahbaz also ordered for a complete audit of the Human Resource Directorate, the purpose of which was to chalk out a comprehensive policy on human resources.

To stop misuse of CDA’s vehicles, he directed the concerned wing to restructure the policy.

Administration Member Munir Ahmad Chaudhry apprised the chairman that the present administration at its inception had decided to abolish the PMO; however, the decision was delayed because of pending matters to be discussed with the Judicial Commission ordered by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

He further said that the PMO was created for mega projects in the past; however, it has failed to complete its 21 projects. He added that the PMO has lost its standing in the CDA.

Munir Ahmad Chaudhry said that abolishing PMO was a good decision, and its projects should now be handed over to other departments within the CDA.

He informed the meeting’s participants that the Human Resource Policy has been compiled in view of the CDA Board’s decision; however, besides 13,000 employees’ pays being scaled up, 8,000 employees have been promoted.

Munir said that the issue was also submitted to the Judicial Commission, where the CDA filed a comprehensive reply and ordered an inquiry.

He added that they are working on decreasing misuse of vehicles as well, saying that at present 778 vehicles are on the CDA pool including 435 light vehicles, 225 heavy machinery, 25 ambulances, 200 motorcycles, 271 vehicles for field duty and 63 dysfunctional vehicles.

He said that on the chairman’s orders, a total of 60 extra vehicles have been retrieved from all officers. The administration is also working on centralizing the vehicles record.

Tahir Shahbaz directed the authority’s concerned formations to finalise all reforms and recommendations so the government could be informed in connection with its austerity measures for the CDA’s budget.

He also ordered a comprehensive policy on transport.
