Amongst the fifteen ministers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government who took oath at the Governor’s House on Thursday, not a single female minister was sworn in.
Governor Engineer Shaukatullah administered the oath to the new cabinet.
The decision to appoint additional ministers in the provincial government was taken after a meeting, which concluded at midnight on Wednesday.
Seven of the total 15 ministers are from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) — journalist-turned politician Shaukat Yousafzai, Shah Farman, Israrullah Gandapur, Yousuf Ayub, Mehmood Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur and Mr Atif.
The nominees of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) are Inayatullah Khan and Habibur Rehman and of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Bakht Baidar Khan and Mr Abrar.
JI’s Sirajul Haq and QWP’s Sikandar Sherpao earlier took oath as senior ministers. Portfolios of the newly-elect ministers will be announced later in the day.
The move comes after promises of development, progress and change in the conservative province by the PTI leadership.
