Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said the war against terror had cost Pakistan losses worth $ 125 billion, in addition to hampering foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country.
Addressing a news conference at the Ministry for Finance, Dar said no official figures had been included in the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2012-13, which was released on Tuesday, regarding financial losses being faced by the country in the war against terrorism.
He said, setting other things aside, it is generally perceived that total financial losses suffered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism are around the $ 85 billion mark.
However, Dar went on to say that after adding other relevant costs, the figure stood somewhere close to $ 125 billion.
Dar said in his personal opinion, the country had already faced a financial loss of $ 180 billion in this war.
