The Aitchison Teacher’s forum (ATF) staged a protest against their termination on Tuesday. The teachers started their protest in front of Aitchison College at Davis Chowk and then proceeded towards the Governor’s House.

A large number of teachers including Mian Muhammad Asif, Manzar Ali Khan, Shahid Saghir, Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry, Izhar Ali Zafar, Hafiz Shoukat, Shoaid Tariq, Akif Bajwa, Muhammad Naeem Raza, Muhammad Tahir Sohail, Ghulam Akbar, Shahzad Gohar, Muhammad Yousaf Kamal, Muhammad Ahson Rana, Muhammad Arsalan Babar, Muhammad Amjad Pervez, Syed Najamul Hassan, Ammara Waheed, Tahir Javed, Musaida Imran, Yasmeen Malik, Shazia Merchant, Shahid Chaudhry and Shahzadi Kiran Yasir participated in the protest. Some of the students also accompanied them and showed their support to the cause.

The ATF has alleged that the college’s temporary principal Shamim Saif Ullah Khan had taken an illegal step against the decision of the Supreme Court.

The forum has questioned the intentions of the principal for terminating the teachers. The teachers inquired as to how the most experienced teachers had turned into ‘dead wood’ in a short span of time after being declared as the ‘best teachers’.

The teachers protested at the failure of the administration in following rules; serving a show cause notice prior to termination. They termed their termination against the Statutes under which the college was being governed.

The protestors chanted slogans at the management’s attempt to get the teachers’ houses vacated.

Moreover, the teachers also demanded the formation of a committee to monitor the financial irregularities in the college. They also protested against the 50 percent fee raise.

  1. How about asking Aitchisonians as to what the repute and competence of these teachers really was ! Any takers. One of the boldest decisions by the management under risk of being reversed. Please for the betterment of Aitchison college let everyone investigate using their resources to find out how massively incompetent and corrupt these teachers really were. Lets not jump to conclusions ! Why do you really suppose that students have been absolutely silent and the only "students" protesting were the sons of the terminated teachers studying at Aitchison college (at half fee). Come on guys let the media publish their own independent findings on the issue and lets not be biased (as I clearly am)

  2. I agree with Aitchsionian 100% these teachers were giving out examination papers, appointing prefects, house captains and giving private tut ions to children most corrupt. very good job Shamim Khan Sahib.
