President summons budget session of NA

The federal budget for the next fiscal year will be presented before the National Assembly on Wednesday.

A special budget session of the lower house has been summoned by the president‚ in which Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will lay budget proposals for the financial year 2013-14.

These budget proposals will first be presented for approval before the federal cabinet in its special session chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The new budget will focus on resolving energy crisis through dealing with the   circular debt of over five hundred billion rupees.

The government is set to announce 30 percent cut in its expenditures and also take measures for efficient use of resources and reduce fiscal deficit.

It is also expected that some hard decisions will be taken to revive the national economy and enhance revenue collection.

Besides strict monetary measures‚ the government will also announce various relief schemes for the common man and a comprehensive strategy to overcome the challenges being faced by the country.
