Mahmood asked to stay at Governor’s House for sometime

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has conveyed to Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood to stay at Governor’s House for sometime, sources revealed.
Nawaz Sharif has requested the governor during his recent visit to Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also asked the governor not to insist on leaving Governor’s House.
Political circles say that the Sharifs had requested the governor to stay until the approval of the provincial budget. It is also conveyed to Mahmood not to press the Presidency for leaving the present assignment.
Sources disclosed that the Sharifs wanted the governor to stay as long as they find a suitable replacement for the office.
Political circles believe that the PML-N leadership, as a goodwill gesture to the PPP, was not hurrying to get Governor’s House vacated.
One favourable point for the incumbent is this that he is hardly burden on the provincial kitty and also running Governor’s House in a more disciplined fashion as compared to his predecessor.
Meanwhile, Governor Ahmad Mahmood administered oath to the new cabinet member instead of Rana Iqbal, Speaker Punjab Assembly despite announcement in this regard. Political circles say that it is also a sign that the governor would continue for some time.
Sources in Governor’s House denied the reports that the Presidency had accepted Mahmood’s resignation.
