Newly nominated Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Tuesday that India was a key neighbouring country and would be accorded Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status in due time.
Sartaj Aziz in an interview said, “There are several outstanding issues to be resolved with India for which negotiations would be held at the top level. Efforts would be employed to make these negotiations result-oriented. However, trust and confidence-building measures must be taken first.”
“MFN status would be accorded to India in due time and much headway has been made in this regard already,” he said.
He said that Pakistan was eager to establish friendly relations with all of its neighbours.
PM Nawaz Sharif also made it clear during his election campaign that negative attitudes towards India would be abandoned as we need to move forward, he concluded.
