Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan on Tuesday directed all police officials to take effective steps to control crime and adopt a professional and responsible attitude to serve the people better while addressing a crime review meeting.

He ordered strict patrolling to ensure effective policing, and special crackdowns on gambling dens and guest houses involved in illicit activities.

The IGP directed that all proclaimed offenders and criminals who are still at large should be arrested, adding that the police should strictly monitor car theft and those previously involved in it.

He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public’s complaints and said that corrupt elements bringing a bad name to the department would not be spared.

Bani Amin Khan said that the Islamabad Police is determined to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, adding that FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay or inconvenience to the complainant.

He also stated that officers who were performing well would be encouraged, while those who were slacking would be checked.

The IGP directed the police officials to be polite to their subordinates. Khan reviewed the monthly performance of various police stations and appreciated those police heads who had performed well.
