The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday decided to hold local government (LG) elections in Punjab before November, 2013, while reviewing amendments to the local government ordinance of 2002.
Sources in PML-N said local bodies’ election is likely to be held in Punjab in October, while the date of election would be announced soon.
Sources further said administrative and financial powers would be transferred to elected representatives in districts.
The party was also pondering giving representation to technocrats, minorities, youth, women, farmers and labourers in the LG system.
