Measles pays Islamabad a visit

After Sindh and Punjab, Islamabad and its rural areas are facing measles’ onslaught.

According to hospitals sources, around 40 measles patients, almost all of them children, are daily being brought to the federal government PolyclinicHospital and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Fortunately, no serious case has been admitted so far.

Polyclinic Hospital Spokesman Dr Sharif Astori said that 15 to 20 measles affected children have been brought to the hospital’s OPD and treated, but no patient has been admitted. The doctor held that the disease has not become an epidemic so far.

On the other hand, PIMS Hospital Spokesman Dr Waseem Khawaja said that dozens of measles patients are brought to the hospital daily. He said that a few children had been admitted, but have been discharged since their recovery.
