Resident of Union Council-94 have urged Punjab CM Shahbaz Shrif to take notice of the rising hooliganism of Ichra circle wardens. The residents said four traffic wardens severely injured a resident of Fazlia Colony who tried to cross road from Muslim Town to reach Shah Jamal. They said wardens including Shrafat Ali and his three accomplices tortured M Nawaz who was coming back from Children Hospital after getting his six-month-old daughter examined.
Nawaz, who was tortured by the Ichra Circle wardens on Friday, said the wardens tortured him brutally for nothing and insulted him in front of his wife. He said he had shown his ID to the warden and even then the warden passed derogatory remarks against him and slapped him.
“The wardens have beaten me as I wanted to cross the Road from Muslim Town to reach Shah Jamal Colony as there is no cut to cross the road,” he said. “I showed warden Shrafat my ID card and documents of my bike even then he insulted me before my wife. When I forbade him not to exceed his limits he slapped at my face and called other three wardens and mercilessly beat me,” Nawaz said.
Nawaz said that he went to the Muslim Town Police Station for an FIR but the police refused to entertain his application against the wardens.
The residents including Ashraf, Aslam, Irman, Salman said ever since the Metro Bus had been made functional, wardens had made it a routine matter to get physical with the commuters. They said wardens scuffled the motorists on a daily basis and even did not care for the families with the motorist.
