The Islamabad police on Friday arrested the son of an Islamabad police inspector for alleged involvement in theft cases, but eventually released him on the top officials’ intervention.
Sources said that the police arrested accused Ali Shaifiq, son of an Islamabad Anti Car Lifting Cell inspector, for alleged involvement in cash theft from outside ATM machines.
However, he was released after a few hours due to pressure from the top echelons of the Islamabad police.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Muharar of Margalla Police confirmed the accused’s arrest, but he said that he had been held for charges of quarreling with some of his friends. He said that both parties had reconciled in the police station, and the accused had consequently been released.
