15,000 kg explosive material found in Chamkani

Chamkani police recovered a total of 15,000 kilograms of explosive material from a warehouse and two Suzuki pickups vans during an operation on Peshawar’s Ring Road.

Police claim to have arrested two suspects and at least one other managed to escape.

Speaking to media representatives, deputy superintendent (DSP) of Chamkani police, Shaukat Khan said that two Suzuki pickup vans which were used to transport potassium chloride for bomb-making had been recovered.

Moreover, he said with information from the two arrested men, police also managed to seize 600 sacks of explosive material from a warehouse. The owner of the warehouse managed to escape and a search operation was underway to apprehend him.

Khan added that the material was meant for sabotage activities and could mainly be used in IEDs and homemade hand grenades.
