German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel on Tuesday congratulated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his election and assured him of her country’s continued support in fulfilling reform agenda.
“The German government will continue to support the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in its upcoming political and economic reforms on the basis of the existing trust-based cooperation,”
she said in her letter to the newly elected prime minister.
“Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I wish you every success in performing the responsible duties incumbent on you during your new term of office,” she said.
Merkel said she was looking forward to working with the new prime minister “to intensify the good and friendly relations between the two countries”.
