Transformation underway in KP: Pervez Khattak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak on Monday said the phase of transformation in the province had begun, adding that all available resources would be utilised to achieve government objectives.
Khattak presided over high-level meetings on food and agriculture besides chairing a meeting of divisional commissioners on Monday.
The meetings, among others, were attended by PTI provincial general secretary Shaukat Yusufzai, KP Chief Secretary Ataullah Khan and officials of concerned departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM made it clear that concerted efforts would be made to address issues of hoarding and profiteering during the sacred month of Ramazan and strict action would be taken against those involved in illegal business practices. He said sale of sub-standard and spurious drugs were heinous crimes and necessary action would be taken to curb these practices.
Khattak expressed displeasure over the fact that the required target of wheat purchase had not been achieved and directed the concerned authority to achieve the goal within ten days. He said negligence and dereliction of duties in this regard would not be accepted.
He underlined the need of devising a comprehensive plan to control illegal smuggling of wheat to Afghanistan.
He directed activating drug inspectors against sellers of sub-standard pharmaceutical products and formulated a result-oriented plan for identification of spurious drugs at medical stores.
He said the police department should cooperate with drug inspectors in performance of their assigned duties. He said political interference in the issue would not be allowed.
Khattak further said working of diagnostic laboratories would be put under a check and separation of administrative and professional affairs would be made with an objective to enhance the provision of facilities to the common man.
He said efforts would also be made to address issues and problems confronted by the medical community.
