Oblivion 2 to be a prequel

Actor Tom Cruise starrer post-apocalyptic sci-fi film Oblivion is up for a part II. But director Joseph Kosinski reveals this time it will be a backstory preceding the original. “We (Tom and I) are talking about something. We talk about stories like a prequel. I don’t want to give anything away but there is an interesting thing about going back before the invasion in a prequel,” says Kosinski, 38, over the phone. Based on Kosinski’s unpublished graphic novel of the same name, Oblivion garnered a mixed reaction from critics worldwide and grossed over $200 million globally. Meanwhile, the two-film old, whose debut directorial venture was the 2010 critically acclaimed film, Tron: Legacy, reveals that he was intimidated by Cruise thanks to his star status before working with him. “I’d grown up watching his movies. He has worked with so many directors that I admire. But when I met him, it all disappeared. He is friendly, down to Earth and a hard working guy. He is a dream guy to work with,” he says, adding, “I’d love to work with him again. I’ve been spoiled now.”
