Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Javed Hashmi congratulated Pakistam Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on being elected as Pakistan’s 24th prime minister and said that Nawaz was and would remain his leader.

Speaking on the floor of the House after election for the prime minister’s office on Wednesday, Hashmi called his reelection as historic.

“This day is a historic day for Pakistan. Only democracy can hold Pakistan together,” said the PTI leader, who secured 31 votes in the election for the PM’s office.

This is the first time in Pakistan that a democratically elected government had successfully transferred power to a new democratic administration after a full five-year term.

Sharif bagged an overwhelming majority of 244 votes today out of a house of 342 members to be elected prime minister.

“Sharif’s victory is associated with Pakistan’s victory,” said Hashmi.

Hashmi, who was a senior PML-N leader before he joined the PTI, expressed the hope that the democratic process would continue in the country.

“We have already set the foundations of a new democratic tradition by holding party elections,” said the PTI leader.

Hashmi also touched upon the contentious issue of US drone strikes in Pakistan’s tribal belt in northwest, which Pakistan claims leads to the loss of many innocent lives.

“Our chief Imran Khan calls for an end to US drone strikes in Pakistan,” he said. “We will stand firmly in our resolve to oppose this menace.”

Hashmi, whose Tehrik-i-Insaf party is leading the new provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Pakistan would receive its strength from the smaller provinces, and hoped that the new federal government would grant the smaller provinces greater representation.

He vowed that the PTI would support the government in the “good initiatives” it takes, while playing the role of a strong and firm opposition party in the National Assembly.

  1. I don't get it why pti trolls started abusing him on this statement and same is happening with Fauzia Qasoori ( Mother of Pti ) from last 3 days ….

    • Because hashmi is an opportunist who doesn't represent PTI's ideology, but it's hard to tell what PTI's ideology is any more with all of the scum that's in the party now.

      • This is just a formal statement. He has said this before as well.People should not be that serious.Jawed Hashmi is a man of integrity.I will not worry too much.Let us see what happens next.

  2. Very positive like real statesman words. God bless you Hashmi Sb with good health Amin.

  3. This is the spirit all parties must adopt if they want to see Pakistan move ahead.I expect nothing less, all must support the new government, hold them accountable, the time has come to face realities,PML-N has won, they are the new government, they will need help from every party along with the people of Pakistan,at the end,if they do well, they will be considered come next election,if not, then we will vote them out, thats democracy.

  4. Hashmi ditched PMLN and joined PTI bandawagon because Imran Khan promised to make him President. Now that PTI has lost, the truth came out from Hashmi's mouth. Dont beleive people like Hashmi, Qureshi and Tareen will stick with PTI for 5 yrs in opposition as these men move from party to party for their own gains. Like Pervez Khattak, first in ANP, Jamaat Islamic, PPP and finally as CM of KP under PTI. Dont compare these lotas with Miss Qasoori who gave her blood for the party since its birth but only left when these men took over and put the sheet of wool on Imran Khan

    • In Pakistan you cant win any seat without them
Election se sabak nahi seekha app ne shahid

    • And yet IK is too blind or ignorant or stupid to understand all of this. He put his principles aside for this opportunistic trash. If he wants the party to be destroyed then so be it. If he doesn't listen to people like Haroon Rasheed then there's something wrong with him. It's sad, truly sad.

  5. It is good gesture by Javed Hashmi for Nawaz Sharif. These two statesman politicians have 22 years of political affiliation. Hope that they will bring PTI and PML-N close for working relationship in parliament for the sake of Pakistan.

  6. hein kawakib kuch nazar aatey hein kuch…… Pehli mohabbat ??????????

  7. PTI والوں دیکھو کیا کہا جاوید ہاشمی نے۔ اس سے ثابت ہوا کہ اصل لیڈر نواز شریف ہی ہیں !

  8. Hashmi tum tumhain Nawaz itna hi pasand hai to fir N.league main hi shamil ho jatai,Imran ko aur loghun ko baiwqoof kun banaya tum nain?

  9. He knows now, PTI can not deliver, never. It is one man show, and doomed with the fall of the leader from the old fork lifter, no planning, no foresight, all fat men, surrounding him assecurity men becasue of their fat belly

    • In human history, there are 40 basic rights of a human (we are never told those in our schools.). among them one is "A right to express his/her thoughts and A right to chose his way". and because we dont know these rights, we dont respect any one. If Fauzia is in PTI, she is a revolutionary otherwise not sincere. If Hashmi is not in PMLN, he is lota and when he praises PM we also label him as NOT Sincere. come on guys grow up and respect other opinions.

  10. For respect!jis ki ghaltion se doosray sabaq seekhayn woh bhi rehnumaa hota hai!

  11. In siayasat danon ki in he bad amaliyun ki waja say aaj Pakistan iss hall main hai.If he was so loyal to NS why did he leave him despite the fact that even the ladies of NS family begged him to stay in the party. Now his leader should be Ik not NS. Yeh Khsyani billi khumba nochay waali misal hai.I apologise if i offend someone.

  12. Jab koi kisi ki ghation say sabaq seekhay tou ussay bhi rehnumaa kaha ja sakta hai.

  13. It is a good gesture but I don not agree with the wording. If "Nawaz was and will remain his leader" then what is he doing in PTI.

  14. I am sure he wishes to be included in all delegations going abroad. His remarks are totally unwanted or is Munafqat AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF OUR POLITICS.

  15. Lukh Lanut – Jithay Di Khoti Uthay Aa Khaalooti – what are you doing in PTI then?
