Amin calls for completion of IP pipeline

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Wednesday congratulated Nawaz Sharif on his election as prime minister and demanded that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government oversee the completion of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

Speaking on the floor of the House after losing the election to Nawaz Sharif, he said his party would extend full cooperation to the new government to defend the constitution and the parliament against any adventurism.

Amin Fahim said that the new government must complete the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project which he said was in the best interest of the country.

He recounted the achievements of the previous government and said it laid the foundation of a strong democracy. He paid tributes to all the political parties for cooperating with the PPP-led government.

Moreover, Amin said that the role of agencies in politics must be discouraged.

He further said that in the previous government led by his party, no one had been sent to jail for their political beliefs.

Fahim said it was heartening that power had been transferred from one democratically elected civilian government to another and that the PPP had cleansed the state of the blot of dictatorship.
