Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took notice of the Transparency International-Pakistan (TIP) application regarding unconstitutional appointment of Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqui and fixed a date for hearing the matter on June 4, 2013.
CJP took notice on an application sent by TIP Adviser Syed Adil Gilani, praying the apex court for taking suo motu action against the unconstitutional appointment of Farooqui as federal ombudsman.
The Supreme Court had already fixed June 4 to hear Constitution Petition No. 30 of 2013 challenging appointments, transfers and postings made during the caretaker government’s tenure. Both applications will be taken up for hearing alongside.
