No single party can deal with Pakistan’s challenges: Ishaq Dar

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Ishaq Dar has said his party is not working for evolving a consensus on the election of a leader of the house in the National Assembly but is in contact with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to withdraw its candidate.
Talking to media on Tuesday‚ he said it will be a positive sign if Mian Nawaz Sharif is elected as a consensus Prime Minister (PM) but it is not possible as Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) has taken a categorical stance for fielding Javed Hashmi as its candidate for the slot.
He said the beauty of democracy is that each party has the right to field its candidate for the office of Prime Minister.
However‚ he said various political parties have assured their support to PML-N candidate and talks are underway with PPP to support Mian Nawaz Sharif in the election.
Ishaq Dar said PML-N leadership is committed to continue implementing Charter of Democracy for strengthening state institutions and promoting democracy.
He said Mian Nawaz Sharif has also invited all political parties to be united on the national plan of action for overcoming challenges the country is facing.
He said no single party is in a position to deal with the challenges and all political forces will have to come on a platform to make joint efforts for this purpose.
