Musharraf going nowhere, says APML

Downplaying all stories appearing in the media about another exile for former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf to Dubai, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has termed such assertions as false and fabricated news that were a part of a vicious campaign to malign the retired general.
On Monday, leading media outlets ran headlines suggesting Gen (r) Musharraf would leave today (Tuesday) under a deal with the PML-N as next PM Nawaz Sharif was being persuaded by world powers not to try the dictator under Article 6.
“The (former) president is going nowhere. He is not going abroad to visit his ailing mother. He will live and die in Pakistan,” said Aasia Ishaque, the secretary-information of the APML.
“Such assertions that President (Musharraf) is leaving for Dubai are a pack of lies. Let me put it on record that my leader would prefer to die here in Pakistan rather than fleeing the country,” she asserted.
The APML leader said all fabricated cases had been lodged against her party leader when he was in self exile.
“These so-called brave rulers did not register a single case against Musharraf despite the fact that he lived in Pakistan for over eight months after his resignation as president in August 2008. All the false cases were registered against him on assumption that he will never return. But he has returned and will face these cases in courts,” she added.
Holding the political ‘turncoats’ responsible for conspiring against Musharraf, Aasia said those elements wanted Musharraf to leave, as if he was tried in those cases, names of those politicians would come to the fore who were then with the general but were now supporting Nawaz.
“Fearing exposure, these politicians want Musharraf to leave so their skins could be saved. But to their dismay, Musharraf is going to stay and he will clear his name in all cases because he believes that he will get justice from courts,” she concluded.
