Murree traffic plan instituted for tourists’ ease

The City Traffic Police on Tuesday issued the summer traffic plan for Murree to facilitate tourists.

Rawalpindi City Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah also directed Murree traffic wardens to work hard in this regard and urged tourists to obey traffic rules.

Istiaq Shah said that 14 inspectors, 410 traffic wardens and seven junior traffic wardens had been deployed in Murree to ensure smooth traffic flow.

He said that Murree was the most attractive tourist resort so it required extra attention. According to the plan, the entry of heavy vehicles particularly on Mall Road would be banned, while Mall Road, GPO Chowk, Kashmir Point, View Fouth, Bank Road, Hall Road and Imtiaz Shaheed Road would be closed from 8am to 12pm for Hi-Ace vans, coasters, water tankers and other loading vehicles. Further, one way traffic would be allowed from Guldana Road to GPO Chowk, Bank Road to Kashmir Point, Hall Road, Kashmir Point, Bagh Shahidan and View Fourth Road towards GPO roads.

He added that only ambulances, traffic police vehicles, military police, Town Municipal Administration (TMA) and government vehicles would be allowed on Murree Road.

Shah informed that all possible facilities were being provided to the tourists, and traffic wardens supervised by inspectors had been deployed at all important points.

He said that parking points had also been reserved for tourists, who could call the helpline at 051-9269200 for guidance.

The plan would be in place till September 15, the CTO concluded.
