Iran, Pakistan sign accord for cooperation at sea

Iran and Pakistan on Tuesday signed an agreement for strengthening cooperation at sea.

The agreement was signed by the head of Iran’s Oceanology Institute Vahid Chegini and his Pakistani counterpart Ali Rashid Tabriz,

Rashid Tabriz and Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology Amjad Hossein are currently in Iran to hold talks in the field.

Speaking on the occasion, Chegini said that the two countries could use each other’s facilities in the research projects at sea and ocean.

Exchange of students and instructors, organising workshops and joint meetings, undertaking joint research studies and educational cooperation were among the items of the agreement, he said.

Establishing a regional oceanology center of west Asia was enshrined in the agreement, Chegini said.

Rashid Tabriz voiced Pakistan’s readiness to promote mutual cooperation.
