Farooq H Naek resigns as leader of the Upper House

Law Minister and Senator Farooq H Naek on Tuesday resigned from the post of leader of the Upper House.

Naek was appointed to this position on April 24 by caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso.

The senate elections, held in 2012, saw Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) maintain its dominance in the Senate. The party bagged 19 seats.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) saw its candidates triumph on seats contested from Punjab, securing eight seats.

The Awami National Party (ANP) increased its haul to seven seats while coalition partners the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) secured four seats each.
