Taliban delegation visits Tehran to meet Iranian officials

A Taliban delegation arrived in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials, according to reports.
An informed source quoted by Iran’s Fars News Agency said, “Taliban’s political delegation has arrived in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials.”
The source further added, “The delegation which consists of members of Taliban’s political mission in Qatar and is headed by Tayyeb Aqa, has already held talks with the security officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran.”
The visit by Taliban group members to Iran comes amid growing efforts by the Afghan government to hold peace talks with the Taliban in a bid to end the decade-old war in the country.
Earlier, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai also said Taliban are willing to hold talks with the Afghan government and Afghan High Peace Council.
However, Taliban have continuously rejected to hold talks with the Afghan government and insisted that any peace talks would be subject to complete withdrawal of all foreign troops from the country.
