Street criminals, beware: capital police arrest 118

Islamabad Police on Monday arrested 118 persons involved in street crimes this year and recovered 74 stolen mobile phones and cash from their possession, a police spokesman said.

On Islamabad Inspector General Police’s orders, an aggressive campaign against street crime was launched.

During this drive, Capital Police obtained names of those involved in street crimes in the past and arrested 118 criminals.

Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yaseen Farooq also directed all sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions, taking stern action against street crime perpetrators.

Further, 50 gamblers were also arrested during raids in various areas of the city and stake money and other items worth many rupees recovered from them.
