PTI lawmaker killed in Hangu

Farid Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker from Hangu, was shot dead on Monday.
One of his bodyguards was also killed whereas two others were injured seriously.
Officials said Khan was on his way in a car. When the vehicle reached near Hangu Bazaar terrorists opened fire on the vehicle. Khan and one of his bodyguards died on the spot whereas two injured were rushed to the Hangu Headquarters Hospital. Doctors termed the condition of both the injured in danger.
No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the killing so far. On the other hand, Khan’s family has not nominated someone in this respect. Similarly, police officials are also tight-lipped, saying that investigation has not been started so far.
Belonging to a middle-class family, the MPA was elected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in May 11 2013 general elections as an independent candidate. Soon after winning polls, he had joined the PTI. He had defeated Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate Attiqur Rehman.
Hangu is considered sensitive due to its geographical location, but Farid Khan had nothing to do with the Taliban or other miscreants. Hangu is adjacent to Kurram, Orakzai and North Waziristan agencies.
Separately, PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the murder of Farid Khan.
In a condolence message on Twitter, Imran Khan sympathised with the family of slain lawmaker.
“May Allah give his family strength to bear the loss. My prayers go out to them,” he tweeted.”
Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak also condemned the killing of the PTI MPA in Hangu. The chief minister ordered police to probe the attack.
