Police arrest woman accused of poisoning 10 of a family

The police on Monday arrested a woman allegedly involved in the poisoning of 10 members of a family, 9 of whom died.

According to the investigating officer, the woman who was also a relative of the victims had added excessive poison pills in the flour that caused their deaths.

During the investigation, the woman confessed to her crime. A police official further said that investigations into the case were still underway.

Earlier, 10 people of the same family were hospitalised after consuming poisonous food in their house at Basti Jangla, Jatoi tehsil. Their condition continued to deteriorate despite treatment. They were then rushed to DHQ Hospital where doctors referred them to Nishtar Hospital in Multan due to their critical condition.

Two children died at Nishtar Hospital, while three died at Children Hospital during treatment. The deceased included five-year-old Faraz, seven-year-old Siraj, 11-year-old Shahbaz, 12-year-old Sajid, 15-year-old Samia, Ghulam Yasin, his daughter Misbah and 11-year-old son.
