Musharraf likely to leave the country on Tuesday

Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf may leave the country tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, one day ahead of Nawaz Sharif’s election as prime minister, to visit his ailing mother at a hospital in Dubai as she has developed serious health problems.

He is currently in detention at his house in Shehzad Town which has been declared prison by the authorities. He was placed on exit control list (ECL) by the director general immigration and passport on April 7 last after issuance of directive by Sindh High Court while granting him protective bail. A circular was issued to all the exit points including the airports to not let the former president leave the country.

Later the Supreme Court also directed authorities to ensure that the former president did not leave the country. The order came as an SC bench took up a high treason case against the former army chief and president of the country who ousted Nawaz Sharif’s government in 1999 in a bloodless coup by defying the constitution.

Well placed sources privy to the developments said on Sunday evening that an application for the bail would be adjudicated on Tuesday and with that he would be moving the court for scrapping his name from the ECL since he had to proceed to Dubai immediately for visiting his ailing mother.

The pre-arrest bail in the Nawab Akbar Bugti assassination case would be taken up by another court on Thursday next a day after assumption of the office of the prime minister by Nawaz Sharif. Pervez Musharraf would not be required to appear personally for the plea in the court for grant of pre-arrest bail.

However, sources in the interior ministry and the director general immigration and passport said that there was no truth about removal of the name of Pervez Musharraf from the ECL unless the apex court issued an order for the same. The speculation is baseless in this regard, the sources maintained.

  1. This is what I had predicted 2 weeks ago. The mother is ailing and gets critical at the preset timing. The army, though has no special love for Musharraf can not risk his arrest lest he spills the beans. That will open a Pandora's box. It is a shame that although it is that democracy has returned to Pakistan, army still wields power despite SC ruling. His name from the ECL can be removed as a special case. No one questions.

  2. The election or so called democracy is like that in Pakistan. Its NRO part-2 for sure. While Judiciary is part of establishment now so it will have to follow its norms.

    • Just because Mr 10% hasn't been tried so far does not justify let Musharraf escape law. If he goes the credibility of judiciary would be totally eroded despite peaceful transition of democracy.

      • People like you only want to listen to & read waht you want to read, so what are the cases against Mushy, Akbar Bugti murder case that guy had no loyalty to Pakistan as the rest of the Sardar's! Reference against Iftikhar Chaudry? To date he hasn't had the decency to explain the circumstances in public. As for Mr 10%? You can see a deal has been struck! Chor jaaten hain to Dakoo ajatai hain & visa versa.

      • In case of his escape how does credibility of judiciary comes into question? The judges don't have physical control over airport exits. How Tauqir Sadiq and other such criminals escaped? Too biased against judiciary for some reason??

  4. what judiciary we are talking about. Juiciary is simply taking personal revenge with him. The judge asked for his arrest warrant himself is a corrupt and should be tried for. People like Raja Pervez Ashraf also called Raja Rental was cleared to participate in election despite for his well known corruption. Where is the law and independent courts then??? law and judiciary cannot be selective. During last 5 years, they opened countless cases all against PPP but none against PML-N. Are we saying there has been no corruption in PML-N. Or the reason is Raja Sanaullah is the relative of Iftikhar Chaudhry :)))))))

    Word has it the "honest" Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday was in charge of the vote-fraud (at least here in Punjab). He was the one handling judges, ROs, etc. to see things go according to plan as far as implementation of the plan was concerned.

    In return for his services, he is now demanding the following:
    1. NAB Chairmansip for himself
    2. Attorney General position for his scam-partner son
    3. An MPA seat for one of his relative lady (sorry I forget the name.)

    (The list of his demands comes DIRECTLY from his family and no I cannot give you evidence — just wait and see)

    Remember despite his reputation, he is one of the MOST CORRUPT justices and he and his son have been playing as tag team in helping BIGGEST crooks go free. People in BIG trouble hire his son for millions in attorney fees…and Ramday makes sure the case either goes as planned OR gets lost for decades waiting for a hearing. Their biggest client: Mian Mansha…..he would be in JAIL today if not for these two Ramdays….and he wouldn't be the richest guy if not for them quashing his cases.

    Mansha of course is going to make another killing now with his business partner Nawaz…

    The Ramdays too are going to get much richer by providing protection to all the corruption that happens in the days to come; "NRO-II" will not be needed as the Ramdays will be making sure everything is whitewashed to begin with……

    in July 2013,accept bail, In October,2013 must be cleared all cases inshah allah.
