A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) led by Dr Farooq Sattar held a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday.
In the meeting with MQM, sources said, Nawaz Sharif vowed to take all political parties on board “to steer the country out of multidimensional challenges.”
Sources said that the MQM leaders were invited by the PML-N in a bid to get Nawaz Sharif elected as prime minister unanimously in the National Assembly where his party holds majority seats.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Sattar said that the meeting was “accidental” during which the MQM felicitated Nawaz Sharif on his victory in May 11 elections.
He said that talks with PML-N were in progress for unanimous election of leader of the parliament, adding that his party will support all the positive steps of the new government.
Sattar further said that the MQM would contest for the slots of speaker and deputy speaker and would perform as a “real opposition.”
