Dr Malik calls for cooperation of all quarters on Balochistan

The chief minister-designate Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Monday emphasised the need for liaison with democratic forces to provide relief to oppressed people.

Addressing a gathering of his party workers and media persons at MPA Hostel, he said, “If we succeed in making good relations with democratic and progressive forces, it would help in resolving problems of downtrodden people of society and promote harmony, brotherhood among the people”.

He said that his party, National Party had accepted the challenge to get all ethnicities including Baloch, Pashtoon, Punjabi, Hazara, Sindhi and others together at a single platform to meet the challenges faced by the country and in Balochistan.

He said that he was thankful to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai and his own party leadership who had assigned him the task of tackling issues being faced by Balochistan.

“Our test has started and we could not provide relief to masses if we could not unite all political and democratic forces of the country,” he said, adding that he was cognizant that people of Pakistan were happy over nomination of a chief minister from a Baloch nationalist party.

He said that National Party did not have an agenda of transfers and postings but would pay special heed to implement its manifesto.

He said that it was his top priority to recover missing persons, sectarian violence and target killings. Furthermore, he said he would introduce reforms in education and health sectors and curb corruption. Moreover, he said that education and health sectors of the province remained marred in corruption during the previous governments, adding that his government would not only improve the performance of these sectors but also completely eliminate the corruption in all public sector departments.

The National Party leader urged his party activists to remain far away from the issue of posting and transfers of government employees as it would damage the party image.

He said that NP would continue political struggle of all veteran nationalist leaders including Mir Yousuf Aziz Magsi, Gul Khan Nasir, Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo, Sardar Aataullah Mengal, Akbar Khan Bugti, Khair Bakhsh Marri, Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch, Bacha Khan, Khan Abdul Samad and Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA and National Party senior leader Nawab Khan Shahwani said that Nawaz Sharif had shown his political maturity by nominating Dr Abdul Malik for the top slot of the Balochistan government.
