Awami Muslim League (AML) leader and NA-55 MNA-elect Sheikh Rasheed has been contacting various political leaders for votes in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as the National Assembly’s opposition leader.

According to details, Sheikh Rasheed contacted the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) to try to convince them to vote for Imran in the upcoming elections for the opposition leader.

A source revealed that during the 14th National Assembly’s first formal session, Rasheed visited the MQM’s parliamentary leader Dr. Farooq Sattar and had a long conversation with him on this matter. However, Sattar delicately avoided a response, saying that his party would collectively make the final decision.

On Sunday, the MQM named Sattar as its candidate for the opposition leader elections.

Further, Sheikh Rasheed also approached QWP Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao for the same cause, failing to gain a solid response once more.

On June 5, the inccoming prime minister and the leader of the opposition would be elected under the special procedure of polling inside the National Assembly by the newly elected National Assembly members.

  1. Imran khan is very charistaematic, intelligent and a very high achiever. He would make the rest of them look very ordinary. This is the reason why they would not have him as opposition leader.
