After consultation with other party leaders, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif announced the nomination of National Party’s (NP) Abdul Malik Baloch for the post of Balochistan chief minister.

In post-meeting press conference on Sunday, June 2, Nawaz Sharif also said that the next Balochistan governor would be appointed from Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. Sanaullah Zehri and Mir Hasil Bizenjo were also present on the occasion.

The National Party chief was one of the three nominees for the slot of chief minister in Balochistan. Other nominees for the post of CM included Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and Nawab Changez Marri of PML-N.

Hailing from a middle-class background, Dr Baloch’s nomination is considered as a positive step towards improving the situation in the restive province.

Dr Baloch has thrice been an MPA in the Balochistan Assembly. He also served as education minister in Nawab Akbar Bugti’s cabinet.

His nomination was also proposed and backed by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, chief of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).

The PML-N chief on this occasion said that it was a day of celebration for democracy and everyone had gathered for the betterment of Balochistan. He also said that the PML-N would not allow any repetition of mistakes.

  1. I think nawaz shareef showed maturity and hes moving in the right direction,I always hated nawaz shareef but i guess he has learned his lessons from the past and is actually tryin to do the right thing.Just hope he can stop drone attacks and stand up for our self respect,Will respect him even more.

  2. Can’t predict anything, handing over power to a baloch can worsen situations but make him more cautious at the same time. Time will reveal the quality of this decision.

  3. Once again the time proves that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the only mature & sensible leader that Pakistan has been waiting for during the past decade to bring back the disgruntled Baloch elements into the national fold.

The dictator was showing his punch in the air to scare the Balochs while the PPP was doling out funds among its cronies all in the name of "Balochistan Package".

We hope that Mian Sb will gradually undo all mistakes of the "Lost Decade" and will resolve the menace of Energy Crisis, Terrorism, Target Killings etc and bring back Pakistan to the path of becoming Asian Tiger…. InshaAllah.

  6. Another show of very famous "Nawaz" genius. The most important trouble makers, namely Bugti's and Murri's are completely kept out of the discussions. Perhaps failed to get establishment clearance. These sardars and waderas gathered at Murree are the same old power hungry lot. Neverthless, my best wishes to the incoming administration and sincerely hope that they can convince the ignored to join hands. Otherwise it will prove to be another routine move.
