Zardari decides to go public on reasons for PPP defeat

As the country’s new National Assembly is set to take oath of their office today (Saturday), President Asif Zardari has decided to go public over the causes, he believes, led to the defeat of his Pakistan People’s Party in the general election on May 11, sources told Pakistan Today on Friday.

Sources said that this would be the first time after the elections that President Zardari would share his concerns over the humiliating defeat of his party, particularly in Punjab province. They said that Zardari had invited a select group of journalists and TV anchors to whom he would “tell his side of the story” today.

In closed door meetings with PPP leaders, President Zardari had held national and international institutions responsible for the PPP’s defeat in the general elections.

“It was a hostile judiciary coupled with international conspiracies that led to defeat of the party,” he had alleged.

He said “security concerns, issues like load shedding and legal constraints on him let us down”. “But it was less of our defeat and more of a victory for a special mindset,” he emphasised.

Zardari said some forces did not like the increasing presence of Pakistan in the region. “In fact it was a combination of local and international factors that caused our defeat.”

Following rigging allegations by various parties in the aftermath of May 11 polls, Zardari also claimed that his party was defeated through planned rigging.

Zardari did his trick of getting sympathy of people of Pakistan by showing the photo of his wife BB There is no more trick left in his bag and people can not believe what he says and future of PPP is rocky In Punjab A humiliating defeat gives the verdict of Punjab There are votes in Sindh and may be elections were rigged and PPP got votes in that Province. I suggest when he goes out of office can start business with the money he looted from Pakistan.

    • I think they are going to nail him to the wall once he leaves the office,at least I hope they do.And also they need to look into the real culprits responsible for Benazir's death and his rise in the party because of it.I really hope the media people walk out on his a s s if he's going to lie right thru his teeth infront of them.

  7. A corrupt, inept and utterly incompetent PPP Government during last five years is the main cause for defeat. Doesn't Zardari know that big powers use people like him and when they lose utility, they throw them out like toilet paper no matter how much subservient he may have made the country just to stay in power.

    Also did Zardari not give an undertaking to LHC that as President he is not taking part in politics, then what the hell is he doing addressing PPP workers?

  14. Zardari has made billions while totally ignoring the situation in Pakistan,every issue,you name it,PPP(Zardari) destroyed it,all in the name of democracy,that was his
    shield that protected him along with his immunity,he knew the country was taking a nose dive,so he rode it out knowing good and well that all he had left was the song of democracy he can sing at the end.Sure enough everyone is talking about the first time a government has completed the term,people tend to forget at times that its the first time Pakistan has been in such dire times,the absolute worse times this country has ever seen and faced.I'm willing to bet that as soon as his term is complete,he's going to waste no time in joining Bilawal in London because law will be looking for him.

  15. He can invent hundred and one reasons, but in fact there is only one reason for ppp's humiliating defeat – Zardari, and Zardari alone. I have absolutely no doubt that he has done irreparable damage to PPP and it would be only a miracle if the party survives his "nahusat" in Sindh as well.

  17. The main reason for PPP's tremendous defeat is Zzardari alone.
    The other reasons are:
    1. No more emotional blackmail of BB's murder.
    2. No more fooling in the name of Bhuttos
    3. Chairman Bilawal staying away from Pakistan & enjoying peaceful life in Dubai.
    4. Corruption in Hajj scandal, Ephedrine scandal, NICL scandal, Steel Mills scandal etc
    5. Zardari was enjoying life in UK & France when Pakistanis were dying of floods in 2010
    6. Total incompetence in resolving the miseries of the poor people.

  18. I wonder whether Mian Nawaz Sharif will ever wait four four months i,e the expiry of Zadari tenure as president? I think Malik Riaz shall arrange good house for his friend in any country of Europe or Middle East. he will run PPP affairs like Altaf Hussain

The general public hates ppp and its alliances.In sindh only the slaves and servants of Bhutto fuedalist were bound to vote for ppp and there is no progress in Sindh by ppp
