The newly-elected MPAs for the Balochistan and Punjab provincial assemblies will take oath on Saturday.

In Punjab, the session of the provincial assembly to convene today would be the 16th session of the house where outgoing speaker Rana Iqbal would preside over the session and administer oath to MPAs-elect.

The assembly’s speaker and deputy speaker would be elected in the second session of the house expected to be held on Monday. Moreover, Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N’s nominee for the chief minister’s position, is likely to take oath on June 6.

In Balochistan, the first session of the newly-elected provincial assembly will be held on Saturday afternoon. No guest will be allowed to witness the proceedings for security reasons.

The speaker of the outgoing assembly, Syed Matiullah Agha, will administer the oath to 64 newly-elected members.

Election on one seat of the province was postponed on account of the killing of a candidate.

The new speaker and deputy speaker would be elected later in another session after the nomination of candidates for these spots.
