Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said that maintenance of law and order in Pakistan’s financial center was at the top of his things-to-do list.
“The superintendents of police (SPs) and the station house officers (SHOs) will be held responsible for targeted killings in the jurisdiction of their police station,” the chief minister said during a surprise visit to a police station on Saturday.
Qaim Ali Shah, along with provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, paid a surprise visit to Civil Hospital Karachi and Meethadar Police Station late on Friday night and reviewed their performance.
He remained there for quite some time and inquired about the health of patients. Shah went round different wards of the hospital, met patients and asked them if they had any complaint against the staff.
On the occasion, the chief minister ordered immediate repairing of the outdated air conditioners. He also talked to doctors and visited a police check post set up outside the hospital.
Talking to local media, the chief minister said he would revisit the hospital after a week to check whether or not his orders were followed. He said he would also pay similar visits to other parts of the province to review arrangements.
He said his first priority would be maintaining law and order, secondly health sector and thirdly he would be concentrating more on the development of education sector.
During his visit to Meethadar Police Station, the chief minister suspended the SHO for he was nowhere to be found in the police station.
