India’s army on Saturday accused Pakistani troops of violating the ceasefire and targeting its posts along the line of control (LoC), dividing Kashmir, India’s official broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) reported.
The ceasefire violation was reported Friday night along Tutamari Gali of Nowgam sector, close to the LoC in frontier Kupwara district, around 120 km northwest of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-held Kashmir.
However, no loss to life or damage to property was reported in the firing.
“Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions last evening, using small firearms and RPGs in Nawgam sector,” AIR quoted an Indian army spokesman. “Indian Army exercised restraint and did not retaliate to the unprovoked firing from the other side,” the statement added.
