Fehmida Mirza sets new record, administers oath to herself

The speaker of the outgoing assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza became the first ever former speaker of the National Assembly in the parliamentary history of the country who administered her own oath on Saturday.

During the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected National Assembly, Dr Fehmida Mirza earned an honor of being the first Pakistani as well as first female speaker of the country’s National Assembly who administered her own oath while she was administering the oath taking of the new MNAs.

While administering oath, Mirza repeated her own name at the place of names in the draft loudly.

Fehmida Mirza of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) also scored a maintaining her seat in the National Assembly.

Previously, majority of former speakers of the National Assembly failed to maintain their seats in elections.
