Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz said on Saturday that it was the CDA’s responsibility to provide recreational facilities to Islamabad residents while inaugurating the Margalla Festival 2013 with MNA Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry at the Arts and Craft Village.
He praised the Sports and Culture Directorate’s initiative of organizing the festival, saying that such activities would help in developing the country’s traditions and in promoting a positive image of Pakistan globally.
The chairman said that many renowned artists would perform at the Margalla Festival and he hopes that it would entertain the residents and bring them closer to their cultural heritage.
Tahir Shahbaz held that the federal capital was a symbol of unity between the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry appreciated the CDA’s efforts for organizing the Margalla Festival 2013. He said that such activities provided healthy recreational opportunities for citizens, and felt that such events should be arranged regularly.
The CDA chairman and MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry also visited the various stalls at the festival. Administration Member Munir Ahmed Chaudhry, Engineering Member Sanaullah Aman, Sports and Culture director general and other CDA officials were also present.
Munir Ahmed Chaudhry informed that that June 1 would be celebrated as Punjab Day, while June 2 would be dedicated to Sindh’s culture and June 4 to Balochistan’s heritage. He added that there would be an exclusive show on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan’s culture on June 6 and June 7 would be celebrated as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa day. Horse dancing would take place daily during the festival and the concluding ceremony would be held on June 9.
