Educationist, company manager among 10 killed

Unknown armed men Saturday morning gunned down renowned educationist Professor Azfar Rizvi along with his driver and a junior manager in a private limited company taking the violence-related death toll to 10 on Saturday.
According to details, unknown armed men riding a bike fired quick bursts on Rizvi’s car near Karimabad Chowrangi. Rizvi was on his way to home after getting free from his private coaching centre that he owned. Both of them, the professor and his driver, were pronounced dead in the hospital.
The assailant(s) made their gateway leaving no trace behind except the shell casings of the bullets they fired on the victims. Cops believe it was a sectarian killing. Earlier, violence claimed at least eight people across the city.
In another sectarian target killing took place, when unknown attackers targeted Syed Hasan Raza, 30, junior manager in a private limited company in the Paposh Nazimabad area of Karachi.
According to sources, while he was leaving for his office in the morning, some unknown men attacked him. He was also an activist of ‘Anjuman Karwan-e-Hussain’.
Meanwhile, the Pirabad police claimed to have arrested a target killer involved in the murder of 24 people. The police said they raided a place in Pirabad area where a target killer, affiliated with a political party, was arrested and arms and drugs were also recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers raided several places in Jamali Goth, Lyari, Dawood Goth and Nazimabad, and arrested several suspects while recovering arms from their possession.
