Crime crackdown: police recovers illegal drugs, weapons

The Islamabad Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Friday busted dacoit gangs involved in heinous crimes and recovered weapons from their possession, said a police spokesman.

According to details, the Islamabad Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Yaseen Farooq directed Investigation Superintendent Police (SP) Mustansar Feeroz to launch an effective crackdown after complaints were received from various areas.

Thus, a special team including CIA Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh and others was constituted to tackle the issue and they successfully busted a five member gang of dacoits, recovering three pistols and ammunition from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Ishtiaq, Mumraiz, Shakeel Waheed and Noor Muhammad. They confessed to their involvement in several criminal incidents.

Further, Assistant Superintendent (ASI) Imran Haider and the Margalla Police team arrested Pervez and Salma red handed while trying to escape after snatching Rs 26,000 from a citizen, and Sub Inspector Muhammad Athar and ASI Muhammad Arif from Sabzi Mandi Police Station arrested Salman Khan and Israr, recovering two 30-bore pistols and daggers from them.

Moreover, Sub Inspectors Munir Khan and Aashiq Muhammad arrested Yasmeen and recovered 1.20 kilogrammes of opium from her. They also arrested another accused Khawer Javed for possessing 55 grammes of heroine.

Also, Sub-Inspector Ghulam Muhammad Shah from Bhara Kau Police Station arrested Israr and recovered 115 grammes of heroin from him, while Sub Inspector Tahir Khan from Aabpara Police Station arrested Haroon Masih for having 120 grammes of hashish.

Cases have been registered against those arrested and further investigation has commenced.
