Former Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) secretary Mian Javed Ali has come in support of Pakistan’s former captain and opener Aamir Sohail for his election as president of the Lahore city cricket with a hope that he would be the right person to lift the sport in Lahore.

Talking to the reporters here, Javed said: “Aamir Sohail is a professional cricketer and he is only the person who can uplift the game in the city which once had honour of producing world class cricketers who served the country for long and earn laurels for it.”

He said the tenure of all the office-bearers of the LCCA had expired so the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had imposed an ad-hoc on those regions whose office-bearers had been completed their tenures.

“Before the two months of the end of our tenure, I have requested the PCB to impose an ad-hoc on the regional body so that the elections of the region may be held in a fair and transparent way.

“The PCB did not give any response then I again sent the reminder on which they not only pondered over but also took imitative positively in order to hold the elections of the region fairly.”

Talking about the scrutiny of the clubs, Mian Javed said: “The scrutiny committee members have been doing their work with justice and have completed the scrutiny of the East Zone. Now they are busy in scrutinising the clubs of West and North Zones and I hope the fair scrutiny process will surely assist in holding the elections of the region transparently.”

To a query regarding how much the PCB have been helping you in your elections, the ex-LCCA secretary said: “The PCB is a neutral body and cannot support any association or party in any matter. Their role is to hold the elections cleanly and fairly which I hope they will do in a trend-setting manner.”
