Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has expressed concern over rising trend of cigarette and shisha smoking among the youth.
He was talking to the members of various delegations in his office on Friday. The commissioner was of the view that there was a need for concerted efforts to keep the youth away from cigarette and shisha smoking.
He said that the youngsters should be attracted towards constructive pastimes and activities.
The commissioner informed that the city administration intended to initiate a vigorous campaign against shisha smoking, gutka, main puri and chalia.
He said that he would soon convene a meeting of deputy commissioners of the five districts in the metropolis soon to chalk out a strategy against these menaces.
